Legal 500: In 2018/19 the firm’s Commercial Litigation team was ranked amongst the best in Essex and Judith was recommended. The Legal 500 said:
“The commercial litigation department at Thompson Smith and Puxon ‘consistently impresses with its significant breadth of skills, timely service and sound advice’, ‘making clients feel valued’. Its key focus areas include tenancy, property lease, and wills and probate disputes, with additional contract, partnership, insolvency, debt recovery, professional negligence and defamation expertise. The ‘pragmatic and supportive’ Judith Winward ‘takes a proactive approach to conflict resolution’ and became an associate in 2017. The ‘exceptional’ Sharon Auton heads the practice.”
In 2017 the Legal 500 said “Thompson Smith and Puxon’s commercial litigation department is based in Colchester and advises on matters such as contentious probate, tenancy disputes, breaches of contract, negligence, injunctions and consumer disputes. Chartered Legal Executive and head of practice Sharon Auton is also an accredited mediator. She is supported by ‘thorough and pleasant to work with’ solicitor Judith Winward, who specialises in lease extension and enfranchisements as well commercial property litigation and boundary disputes. Most of the highlights in the past year involved property litigation, commercial leases, probate and intellectual property.”
Sharon says “I love my job and the variety it gives me. I have some wonderful clients. I particularly enjoy court work and the butterflies I still get from it and the open sessions at mediations. I like that the law is constantly changing and we have to keep on our toes to keep up with it.”
Sharon works closely with her colleagues in the Business Services and Wills and Estates Team to ensure that clients are provided with an holistic approach to their needs.
