Caroline Nicholls

Associate Solicitor

+44 (0)1206 217031

Solicitor Caroline Nicholls joined TSP’s Corporate and Commercial team in May 2015. Based in our Colchester office, she advises business clients on all aspects of Company and Commercial law. Caroline was appointed as an Associate Solicitor in October 2017.

She has experience in advising clients on acquisitions and disposals, restructurings, joint ventures and shareholder agreements, private equity investments, commercial contracts and general company law. She advises companies in a broad range of industry sectors, particularly care homes, healthcare and construction sectors. She also has particular interest and substantial experience in restructuring Community Amateur Sports Associations.

Having attended school in Bishops Stortford, Caroline studied for her law degree at the University of East Anglia before taking her Legal Practice Course at the College of Law in London. She then joined a multinational law firm headquartered in London as a trainee and worked in their Corporate Law team from qualification in September 2006 until joining TSP. Caroline is a bi-lingual French speaker and in her spare time she enjoys playing tennis and skiing whenever time allows!

Caroline says “Advising on Company and Commercial law is extremely diverse in both the type of client we advise and the work we undertake. One day we can be helping clients establish a new business and the next, we are negotiating multi-national restructurings or acquisitions. Each matter has its challenges and rewards making for never a dull day!”

Thompson Smith and Puxon has, for a number of years, been highlighted by the Legal 500 as a Leading Firm in this practice area and in the 2018/19 edition Caroline continues to be recommended for her work in this area and is again noted as a Next Generation Lawyer. In the UK 2018/19 edition the team is described as follows:  “Thompson Smith and Puxon’s corporate department provides ‘exemplary service’ with an ‘efficient, pragmatic and commercial approach’ and ‘resolves matters in a prompt and professional way’. M&A, restructurings, commercial contracts, business disposals and sponsor agreements form the bulk of the practice’s work. The team achieved a growth in matters relating to the agricultural, construction and food industries, while healthcare remains a strong focus. The ‘calm, unflustered and committed’ Caroline Nicholls is recommended.

In the UK 2017 edition the Legal 500 said “Mary Anne Fedeyko and solicitor Caroline Nicholls, who handled the reorganisation of key client Clacton on Sea Golf Club, ‘provide sound and considerate advice with a commercial approach’.”
