Frequently asked questions
How long a road accident claim takes to settle will depend on the complexity of the case, the severity of your injuries, and whether liability is disputed. An average case may take between 18 months to 2-3 years, however more complex cases can take several years.
Personal injury can be covered by vehicle insurance, however not all policies will include it as standard. It is sometimes offered as an optional add-on. Insurance may also not cover all passengers in the vehicle, and even for those covered it may not cover for minor injuries, such as sprains and fractures.
As per section 11 of the Limitation Act 1980, you have up to three years to claim. This is known as the limitation period, and it runs from either the accident itself, or the date that you discovered injuries/noticed symptoms that resulted from the accident.
