Role overview:

As a Solicitor in the Employment Team, you will work closely with senior colleagues while also managing your own caseload and client relationships. The role will involve:

  • Advising clients on a wide range of employment law matters including disciplinary and grievance procedures, dismissals, redundancy, discrimination, workplace disputes, Employment Tribunal claims, TUPE and corporate support work
  • Managing and developing relationships with subscribers to our HR Buddy and Partner services
  • Drafting, reviewing and negotiating employment contracts, policies and settlement agreements
  • Handling Employment Tribunal matters, including preparation of documentation and liaising with clients throughout proceedings Building and maintaining strong client relationships and delivering high-quality client service
  • Contributing to networking, marketing initiatives and business development activities
  • Supporting the continued growth of the employment team and, where appropriate, mentoring more junior colleagues

About you:

  • A qualified Solicitor with at least 3 years’ PQE in employment law
  • Strong technical knowledge and the ability to manage a varied caseload with minimal supervision
  • Excellent client care skills and confidence in attending and leading face-to-face client meetings
  • A collaborative approach and willingness to work as part of a supportive team from our Colchester office
  • Self-motivated, enthusiastic and resilient, with strong emotional intelligence
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong IT skills and the ability to conduct legal research using subscription tools such as LexisNexis and Practical Law
