Thompson Smith and Puxon welcomes two new Trainee Solicitors

Thompson Smith and Puxon is delighted to announce that its Trainee Solicitor cohort continues to grow with Sorrel Macy and Nicole Grumann joining existing trainees Sahrish Nadim, Holly Regan, Fiona Sturges and Kurtis Symons-Peck. All have taken their new seats in March.

Sorrel Macey joined TSP after attending its Vacation Scheme in July 2023. With a law degree, Masters and LPC under her belt, following the scheme Sorrel was hired as a Legal Secretary into the firm’s Dispute Resolution team. Three months later, she participated in the Training Contract Assessment process and secured a Training Contract. 2023 Cohort member, Sahrish Nadim, also secured a Training Contract in this way, starting her journey with TSP as a Legal Secretary in the Family Team before applying. Like fellow 2024 Cohort member Kurtis Symonds-Peck, Sahrish studies the Legal Practice Certificate part-time at the University of Law. 2023 Cohort member, Fiona Sturges also studies the LPC part-time, having studied Law locally at the University of Essex.

Nicole Grumann also joined the firm through TSP’s July 2023 Vacation Scheme. Having completed her law degree in 2024 at the University of Exeter, she will undertake her SQE, alongside current Trainee Solicitor, Holly Regan, who was recruited in September 2024 and is the first trainee to take the SQE at TSP. Both Nicole and Holly will benefit from the firm’s partnership with training provider Datalaw, whose experts offer tailored training and support to Trainees throughout the SQE process. With Datalaw offering access to dedicated tutorials and study groups, we aim to give our trainees the best possible opportunity to succeed in the SQE.

Anisa Khan, the first Trainee Solicitor to qualify via TSP’s new framework, was hired as an NQ into the Dispute Resolution team just last month. She was the first to benefit from the comprehensive support, regular feedback and professional opportunities for development provided by the firm.

Nicola Rout, Senior Associate and Thompson Smith and Puxon’s Training Principal, commented: “It has been wonderful to see Thompson Smith and Puxon’s Training Contract programme go from strength to strength, increasing from one to six Trainees since the introduction of a formal assessment programme in January 2023. To see up close the passion of the next generation of legal talent as they develop into valued members of the firm has been very rewarding.”
