Thompson Smith and Puxon welcomes NQ Solicitor

Thompson Smith and Puxon is delighted to announce that Trainee Solicitor, Anisa Khan, has qualified. She was admitted as a Solicitor on 1 February 2025 and is set to attend her admission ceremony at the Law Society in London in April. Anisa will join the firm’s Dispute Resolution Team with immediate effect.

Anisa joined Thompson Smith and Puxon back in 2021 as a Court of Protection Paralegal in its Wills & Estates Team. During this time, she supported the day-to-day management of Deputyship, Attorneyship and Trust Matters. She embarked on her Training Contract in February 2023, taking seats with the Private Client Team, Dispute Resolution, Corporate and Commercial and Commercial Property.

Anisa was awarded LawNet Trainee of the Year 2023/24 in November 2023. Winners are chosen on the basis of their dedication and commitment to their profession. Anisa’s diligence and initiative was noted by colleagues and clients alike, with her involvement in the local business community and her assistance in the innovation and development of best practice at TSP also setting her apart as a rising star.

She has been an ambassador for the next generation of lawyers and the firm over the last few years, representing TSP at events like the Colchester Business Awards, the Suffolk Show and the Tendring Show. Anisa has also participated in a podcast interview and featured as part of a panel of Junior Lawyers at the Law Firm Ambition conference at the end of last year.

Instrumental in providing feedback as the firm prepared to increase the number of Training Contracts it offered fourfold, Anisa has also helped to develop TSP’s Trainee Talks series, a collection of articles lifting back the veil on the experiences of TSP’s Trainee Solicitor cohort, tackling topics of interest including business development, the process of changing seats and mental health, amongst many. She also participated in last year’s LawNet challenge, undertaking an 18-mile trek through the Borrowdale Region in the Lake District to raise funds for Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital.

Anisa is Secretary for the Suffolk & North Essex Junior Lawyers Division (SNELS) and a Dementia Friend.

Sean Stuttaford, CEO, commented: "We are all delighted to welcome Anisa as a newly qualified solicitor at TSP. Throughout her training contract, she has demonstrated exceptional dedication, professionalism and a strong commitment to the firm’s values. Over the past three years, we have modernised our training program through increased investment and have listened to students at some amazing universities, expanding our trainee cohort from one to nine in just three years. Anisa is the first to qualify through our enhanced process, which emphasises collaboration, growth, learning, and our firm’s culture. It also integrates training on modern soft skills that are essential for today’s lawyers and will equip them with the skills needed to deliver the best possible service to our clients. Our trainees can benefit from comprehensive support, regular feedback and opportunities for professional and personal development. It has been great to see Anisa thrive in this environment since she and I met over a teams call during the lockdown years. We look forward to seeing her continue to grow and contribute to all aspects of life at TSP as she embarks on this exciting next stage of her career."

Anisa Khan concluded: "I am delighted to be qualifying as a solicitor at Thompson Smith and Puxon. From day one of my time here, I have been supported and encouraged to develop, and I can't imagine how I could have asked for a better training experience. The firm focuses on collaboration, and guidance from so many experienced colleagues who have played a huge role in shaping my journey and I’m grateful for their mentorship and support. I am genuinely excited to take this next step in my career in Dispute Resolution and make a meaningful contribution to the firm’s continued success."
