The Wombles Community Charity

Thompson Smith and Puxon advised the trustees of the charity envisioned by Wombles Operations Limited, an entertainment company, who set up a charitable incorporated organisation in 2023.
Nicola Rout from our Corporate and Commercial team liaised with the Charity Commission to deal with complex issues around intellectual property and to ensure the Commission were satisfied about the charitable objects of the proposed charity. TSP also provides employment advice to the charity, demonstrating the firm’s ability to provide a full service to our varied client base.

Since its charitable registration, Nicola has been retained as the charity’s legal adviser - she appears on the charity’s website where she is named as part of the executive team. Nicola now advises on all aspects of the charity’s work, including general governance, and commercial and education projects, including the charity’s partnership with the UN’s Water Week campaign. 

TSP’s ongoing work with the charity demonstrates the team’s ability to advise at a national level, dealing with complex commercial arrangements around valuable intellectual property. TSP has also been able to advise on the charity’s relationships with government and non-government organisations, such as the UN, in an effort to encourage positive environmental action in local communities and schools across the UK.
