Environmental, Social and Governance
At Thompson Smith and Puxon, our dedication to legal excellence is matched by our commitment to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles.
We believe in driving positive change not just for our clients, but our colleagues, communities and the world around us. Our ESG approach incorporates everything from responsible business practices, to diversity, equity and inclusivity. By staying ahead of regulatory developments and industry trends, we empower our clients to navigate the evolving business landscape with confidence.
Proud to support Colchester
With a long history in the local community (TSP was established in Colchester back in 1879) we are proud to be a part of the city’s exciting development and growth plans.
Last year, Thompson Smith and Puxon were awarded Compassionate Champion status as part of a supportive framework of local organisations helping individuals navigating life’s most challenging moments, recognised for delivering legal services to the community with empathy and understanding.
TSP is also a proud sponsor of The Mercury Theatre in Colchester - under the 'Made in Colchester' brand, the Mercury creates theatre which reaches audiences and generates critical attention regionally and nationally.
There are a number of projects which will be happening in Colchester over the next five years - all targeted towards making Colchester a better place to work, live and visit.
TSP in the Community
The team at TSP is very visible in the Colchester and wider Essex region. We are active members of The Essex Agricultural Society, Essex Young Farmers and the CLA and our agricultural specialists can always be found at key regional events, including the Suffolk Show, the Tendring Show, The Essex Young Farmers event and the Hadleigh Show. Our colleagues also regularly attend the Colchester Business Lunch Club and Essex Chamber of Commerce events.
Through an informal business lunch club designed to connect local professionals from in and around the Colchester area, The Colchester Business Lunch Club, presided over by TSP Director Robert Ashworth, the firm is able to contribute to donations to local charities. So far this year, two cheques have been presented - £500 to St Helena Hospice and £500 to Beacon House. You can read more about this here.
We are proud to support our local community through various fundraising events and initiatives including the Macmillan Coffee morning, The Brantham Church Teddy Bear Parachute Jump, the Clacton Pier-to-Pier walk and Christmas Jumper Day for Save the Children. Instead of traditional Christmas cards, TSP makes a corporate donation every year, last year donating £500 to St Helena Hospice.
TSP was instructed to help form the ‘Wombles Community Charity’ after Wivenhoe resident and Head of Employment Jolyon Berry regularly found himself picking litter during his daily dog walks and joined forces with Wombles Operations Limited to create the “Wombles of Wivenhoe” Charity which supports community litter picking groups.
