TSP Delighted to Receive their ‘Working Towards Dementia Friendly Status’

TSP is thrilled to be the first legal  practice in the Tendring district to be awarded the ‘Working Towards Dementia Friendly Status’ from Tendring Dementia Action Alliance in recognition of our continued work in supporting and raising  awareness of Dementia. We believe that research is key to improving dementia care and TSP is committed to delivering better outcomes for individuals with dementia and their carers through the work we do.

TSP is a keen supporter of the Alzheimer’s Society fundraising and awareness-raising events and for a number of years has taken part in the Alzheimer’s Society Cupcake Day and supported Dementia Action Week. We are pleased to be members of the Local Dementia Action Alliance groups in Colchester and Tendring; attending meetings, speaking at events to promote awareness, and running events to raise vital funds for essential research.

Our offices in Clacton and Colchester are wheelchair accessible and we have literature on the Alzheimers Family Navigating service available. We recognise that not everyone living with Dementia will be able to get to our offices, especially during the Coronavirus Pandemic, and offer home visits to accommodate each individual client’s needs.

TSP is committed to training its staff.  Many have taken part in dementia awareness training and are Dementia Friends and the lawyers in our Wills & Estates team have also completed the Virtual Dementia Tour. Wills & Estates Team Leader Fiona Ashworth and solicitors Aileen Hirst, Sarah White and Hayley Weston are full accredited members of Solicitors for the Elderly (SFE); an independent national organisation of legal professionals who provide specialist legal advice for older and vulnerable people, their families and carers. Solicitor Hayley Weston is a Dementia Friends Champion and delivers training not just to our staff members but to external organisations also.

All of these efforts have led us to receive our certification and we will continue to proudly support Dementia Action Alliance and the Alzheimer’s Society in their efforts to support those living with Dementia.
