
According to statistics published by Think! 2015. Motorcycling, Motorcyclists, who only account for 1% of total road traffic, account for 19% of all road deaths. Other statistics, from the same website, that highlight the dangers faced by motorcyclists on the road are:
- Motorcyclists are 38 times more likely to be killed in a road traffic accident than car occupants
- In 2013, 331 motorcyclists died and 4,866 were seriously injured in road traffic accidents in Great Britain
- The number of motorcyclists injured on the road has fallen since 2008 when 493 were killed and 5,556 were seriously injured
- 30 motorcyclists are killed or injured at junctions every day
