Please estimate your loss of earnings by using the top slider to choose your weekly salary and the second to indicate the number of weeks that you were unable to work because of the injury sustained. Estimate any of out-of-pocket expenses that you may have incurred using the third slider. These are, for example, prescription payments – Expenses which you would not have had to pay for if you had not been injured. There is no calculator to deal with care costs because every case where care is required is different and requires the careful assessment of experienced lawyers. In cases of maximum severity the care elements of the claim will often be millions of pounds.
Vibration White Finger is caused by exposure to vibration and is a slowly progressive condition, the development and severity of which are affected by the degree of exposure. The award will depend very much on individual circumstances and a number of factors such as age at onset; whether one or both hands are affected and, if only one, whether this is the injured person’s dominant hand; the number of fingers affected; the extent to which there has been a reduction in grip, and the impact on work and social life. This award bracket is likely to apply where the impact on work and leisure has been modest.
Most of the reported cases of dermatitis (apart from the scalp) relate to dermatitis of the hands. At the higher end of the award bracket (£11,110 to £15,510) there will be dermatitis of both hands with cracking and soreness, possibibly with some psychological consequences lasting for some years, maybe indefinitely. In the middle bracket (£6,985 to £9,240) there will be dermatitis to one or both hands but which settles with treatment and / or the use of gloves for some tasks. At the bottom end of the scale (£1,375 to £3,190) there will have been itching and irritation but this will have resolved within a few months of treatment.
This award bracket includes injuries such as fractures to both heels or feet resulting in substantial restriction on mobility or considerable and permanent pain. The bracket would also include unusually severe injuries to a single foot.
