Hayley Weston, who qualified as a Solicitor in 1999, joined the TSP Wills and Estates team in September 2019. She advises clients on a broad range of private client matters including; Wills, Powers of Attorney, Deputyship and the administration of estates. She specialises in elderly and vulnerable client matters. Hayley is based in our Colchester office and is supervised by team leader Fiona Ashworth.

Hayley obtained her Law Degree from the University of Exeter in 1996 before undertaking her Legal Practice Course at the University in 1997. Hayley went on to join a local firm as a trainee Solicitor in 1997 and qualified as Solicitor into the Litigation department in 1999 specialising in defendant personal injury and commercial litigation.

Following a career change, during which she worked as a Law Lecturer at the College of Law London, and a career break to raise her three children, Hayley re-joined the local firm as part of the Wills and Probate team In May 2016.

Hayley is a fully accredited member of Solicitors for the Elderly (SFE) and Secretary of the Essex branch. She is also a full member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) having successfully completed the STEP diploma in Trusts and Estates.

Hayley says “One of the most rewarding aspects of my work is being able to help and support clients through challenging and/or distressing times such as the death of a loved one or concerns regarding the capacity of an elderly relation.  I work hard to develop strong working relationships of trust and confidence with my clients and aim to deal with all matters efficiently and with empathy.”

Dementia FriendsIn her spare time, Hayley has been involved in a number of voluntary positions including being a Community Mentor at a local secondary school and the Chair of Governors at a local junior school. Whilst Hayley is no longer a school governor, she continues to support the management team of the school. Hayley is a Dementia Friends Champion. Dementia Friends Champions are trained volunteers who encourage their family, friends, colleagues and local community to understand a little bit more about dementia, what it’s like to live with dementia and then turn that understanding into action. Dementia Friends is an Alzheimer’s Society scheme. Find out more about the scheme and how TSP is involved here.
