This is an offer, which can be made by either side in a dispute, which is designed to bring the dispute to an end at a very early stage. If the offer is accepted then the case is resolved. If the offer is turned down then the offer remains secret from Judge at any subsequent Court hearing until his decision is made. Cost consequences will follow if the Judge then considers the offer was reasonable at the time it was made. For example: A defendant offers £10k to settle the case we have brought against them, we choose to reject it. If later, in Court, a claimant is awarded less than that sum then the claimant will be ordered to pay the defendants costs from the point that the offer was rejected.
