Wendy Mayers, Thompson Smith and Puxon’s (TSP) Accounts Manager, was presented with the Wilfred Owen Award at the ILFM  Annual Luncheon which took place on 16 September 2015 in the Parliament Chamber at the Honourable Society of the Middle Temple, in London.

The ILFM is the education authority and membership body for finance, administration and practice management professionals working in the legal sector. They offer training, qualifications and continued support for members. In order to become an Associate of the ILFM students must pass 3 exams. The Wilfred Owen Award is presented annually to the students gaining the highest marks in those exams.

Wendy achieved 97% in her financial accounting exam and, along with 3 other award winners, was treated to a three course meal as well as presentations from Tim Kidd, CEO of ILFM, Amanda Norton, Regulatory Manager for the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) and Rebecca Lander, Senior Customer Relationship Manager for Wesleyan Bank.

Wendy, who has worked in the legal accounts sector for over 25 years, said “I decided to take these exams to supplement my many years of experience in legal accounting. The ILFM training will help me to be the best I can be for Thompson Smith and Puxon (TSP) and ensures I keep fully up to date with the changes in the legal finance world.”

She added “It was such an honour to receive the award and to be invited to the lunch. There were so many influential people there on the day and it was overwhelming to know they were there to celebrate our achievements.”

Wendy now has two more exams to complete before she will become an Associate of The Institute of Legal Finance and Management.

TSP Director and Head of Finance, Julian Wilson, said “On behalf of everyone at TSP I would like to congratulate Wendy on her outstanding achievement. As a firm we are committed to supporting our staff with their training and keen to invest in the future of the firm. We now look forward to the day when Wendy’s formal training with the ILFM is complete and she is admitted as an Associate.”
