Tendring Business Leaders Association (TBLA), founded and hosted by Clacton and Colchester-based businesses, Thompson Smith and Puxon Solicitors and Jamesons Accountants, met for lunch today (Thursday 24 September) at the Lifehouse Hotel and Spa in Thorpe-le-Soken.

The purpose of the group is to bring together likeminded business leaders based in the Tendring area, from different industry sectors, but with a similar business demographic, who generally suffer from the same troubles and enjoy the same success, but who very rarely get the chance to come together in the same room to share their ideas and thoughts for the future.

The speaker at the meeting today, the second for the group which will meet quarterly in the future, was MP for Clacton Douglas Carswell. Introduced by Jamesons Managing Director, Alan Brown, Douglas spoke with passion about the area that he represents in Parliament and his hopes for its future, which include a better rail service, the regeneration of Clacton town centre, and a faster, more reliable, broadband service. He answered the questions that he was asked by his audience frankly and in particular stressed his support for local business and his pro-business stance. He gave a number of examples of how he has helped to bring some of the problems that individual local businesses have had to the attention of the correct people in Government to bring about a resolution for them, and emphasised that he is always available to talk to businesses about any issues or problems that they may have.

The group enjoyed an excellent lunch prepared for them by the Lifehouse and following the meal TSP Director, Richard Porter, brought the meeting to a close. The group will meet again in January 2016.
