Irretrievable breakdown of the marriage is established by proving the existence of one of the following five facts:-
- The other party has committed adultery and you find it intolerable to live with them
- The other party has behaved in such a way that you cannot reasonably be expected to live with them
- The other party has deserted you for a continuous period of least 2 years
- You have been separated for a continuous period of at least 2 years and the other party consents to a divorce
- You have been separated from the other party for a continuous period of at least 5 years
