The Dementia Friends programme is an Alzheimer’s Society initiative designed to change people’s perceptions of dementia. It aims to transform the way the nation thinks, acts and talks about the condition.

TSP is proud to have 44 members of staff who are Dementia Friends across both of our offices in Colchester and Clacton.

Becoming a Dementia Friend is not an onerous commitment. The emphasis is on learning about dementia, being aware, and recognising the small ways in which you can help. You can find out more about becoming a Dementia Friend here.

Alongside the Dementia Friend programme, we also support Dementia Action Week. Dementia Action Week (DAW) is an annual event organised by the Alzheimer’s Society which aims to bring communities and organisations together to take action to improve the lives of people living with dementia.

We are also pleased to be members of the Dementia Action Alliance (DAA) and, in particular, the local groups in both Colchester and Tendring. The DAA helps organisations across England to connect, share best practice and take action on dementia. The alliance is divided into districts and each district has set their own principal aims. However, the overriding aim for all groups is to raise the awareness of dementia and to create dementia friendly communities which meet the needs of those living with dementia and their carers. Members have to commit to a series of planned actions which contribute to this goal. Find out more about the Dementia Action Alliance here.
