Thompson Smith and Puxon is delighted once again to sponsor the Rotary Club of Colchester Forum Choir competition for Junior Schools, now in its fifth year.

The 2018 competition will take place over three heats and a final and will see 11 choirs taking part. The winners will be presented with a trophy (pictured left) and certificates.

Heat 1 will take place on Tuesday 30th October at Thomas Lord Audley School, Monkwick Avenue, from 7.00pm and feature Gosbecks Primary School, Baynards Primary School and Queen Boudica Primary School.

Heat 2 will take place on Thursday 1st November at Thomas Lord Audley School from 7.00pm, and will feature St. James’ C of E Primary School, Bishop William Ward C of E Primary School, Colchester High Lower School and St. Mary’s Primary School.

Heat 3 will take place on Tuesday 6th November at Thomas Lord Audley School from 7.00pm, and will feature Heathlands C of E Primary School, St. Thomas More’s Catholic Primary School, Layer-de-la-Haye C of E Primary School and St. George’s New Town Primary School.

The top two choirs from each heat will go through to the final which will take place on the evening of Wednesday 14th November at the Ivor Crewe Lecture Theatre, University of Essex. For directions to the Ivor Crewe Lecture Theatre please click here.

Each choir will perform “The Last Dinosaur” by Lin Marsh and a song of their own choice. The adjudicators, whose job it is to decide the winning choir, are Monica Thomas, Stephanie Laine, Bailey Gordon and Thomas Holt.

In 2017 the winners of the competition were St Thomas More’s Catholic Primary School and in 2016 the winners of the competition were Dedham C of E Primary School.
