Inappropriate care by the ambulance service covers a number of different areas. It may be that a patient being transported to hospital sustains an injury getting into or out of the ambulance, or perhaps sustains a different injury to the one they are being transported for, in some cases a serious one, because they or the wheelchair they are being transported in is not adequately strapped down.

Other problems that may arise relate to quality of the medical care given, incorrect diagnosis, giving the patient inappropriate medication or treatment, or possibly a decision may be made not to transport the patient to hospital for further assessment when this is needed.
