29 January 2008: Celebrity broadcaster Sir David Frost entertained a capacity audience at Clacton's Princess Theatre last night (28 January) with hilarious personal anecdotes and classic footage of his forty year career in television. The evening was organised by the Clacton Arts & Literary Society and sponsored by solicitors Thompson Smith & Puxon, whose employees and clients were amongst the guests.
Sir David shared some of the most unusual moments of his career, including the small talk of US President Richard Nixon, who wanted to advise him on tax. Among the many world figures he has interviewed are the six most recent British Prime Ministers; the six most recent Presidents of the United States and many others outside the world of politics, including Muhammad Ali and the Beatles.
The audience enjoyed clips from "That was the week that was" and "The Frost Report", including the classic take on 1970's social stigma illustrated by the "Class" sketch with John Cleese, Ronnie Barker and Ronnie Corbett.
