The fastest British women’s hurdler, Colchester’s Sarah Claxton, who receives ongoing sponsorship from Essex solicitors, Thompson Smith & Puxon, has spoken of her joy at London winning the bid for the 2012 Olympic Games.

“I think it is a great opportunity to have the Olympics coming to London. I was so happy when it was finally announced that we had won the bid. Hopefully I will still be competing in 2012, but if not I look forward to all the new facilities that will become available”, said Sarah Claxton.

Sarah achieved a personal best of 12.96 seconds in the 100m hurdles at the AAA championships in Manchester last weekend, the first time she has run under 13 seconds. Her winning run also qualified her for the World Championships in Helsinki later this year, and the Commonwealth Championships in Melbourne in 2006.

The ongoing sponsorship from Thompson Smith & Puxon pays for Sarah’s travel and accommodation expenses. She trains mostly at CrystalPalace although she is still connected to Colchester & Tendring AC.
