

26 November 2007: One of the East of England?s leading choirs, The University of Essex Choir, will be joined by the London Handel Orchestra and top soloists for a concert at Charter Hall in Colchester on 26 January 2008 at 7.30pm.
Local solicitors Thompson Smith & Puxon, which has offices in Colchester and Clacton, is sponsoring the solo by leading UK mezzo soprano Heather Shipp, who has performed across the world to critical acclaim. Heather will be joined by fellow professional soloists Sophie Bevan (Soprano), Nicholas Mulroy (Tenor) and Mark Stone (Bass).
The University of Essex Choir, whose 150 members include University staff, students and members of the local community, will perform Handel, arr. Mozart: Messiah Part 1 and Hallelujah; and Haydn?s Harmoniemesse during the evening event.
The choir performs under the expert direction of conductor Richard Cooke who is now in his 26th season with the group. Richard is also music director of the Royal Choral Society and conductor of the Canterbury Choral Society.
