13 February 2008: The premier of a new musical written and produced by a young Clacton theatre group has won the backing of local solicitors Thompson Smith & Puxon. Their financial support helps get "Quite Average Jane", written by Scott Morgan and directed by Lucy Mellow, onto the stage at Clacton's West Cliff Theatre on 28-29 March. Clacton Round Table has also given its support.

The musical, aimed at a young audience but fast attracting attention from the whole community, stars local talented actors and actresses aged 13 to 30, who have benefited from rehearsal space offered by the MAD Theatre group who fund raise in aid of Macmillan cancer support. A percentage of the profits from the production will be donated to the charity.

Lucy Mellow said: "It's fantastic that Thompson Smith & Puxon responded to our plea for financial help and it's a real boost to the cast to get business sponsorship and so much support from the community, including Round Table."

Richard Porter from Thompson Smith & Puxon, which has offices in Clacton and Colchester, said: ?This is a talented young group and we were pleased to step in and help. We're really looking forward to seeing the show."
