August 2005

A Colchester company, Computerwise Limited, which was established twenty-five years ago by Doreen and Tony Friedlander to service the needs of the business community when PC’s were in their infancy, has combined its business operations with TMB solutions Ltd under a common holding company. TMB Solutions is a Hampshire-based accounting software reseller.

This merger was concluded after over a year of planning and negotiation. Husband and wife team Doreen and Tony Friedlander, founders of the company, were advised throughout by Mary Anne Fedeyko, Partner and head of Thompson Smith & Puxon’s (TS&P) commercial law team.

Tony Friedlander, who stays as managing director of Computerwise, said:

“I am extremely excited about my new role within the Group, which allows me both to continue to work with the great team we have in Colchester to expand Computerwise further, and also to acquire other ICT companies.   Such acquisitions are vital to enable the Group to re-invest in new technologies, so we can offer clients an ever-wider range of products and services.   No technology company can stand still, and critical mass is essential to survival in today’s ever more competitive market”.

Speaking about the advice he received from Thompson Smith & Puxon, Tony said:

“The advice we received from Thompson Smith & Puxon has been incredibly professional, very focused and helped us achieve an excellent commercial deal.   Thompson Smith & Puxon took particular care to ensure that we understood all aspects of the process, the risks and the benefits”.

Doreen Friedlander is retained as a consultant, the merger allowing her to spend more time on other interests.
