Latest News

We are delighted to announce that after more than 130 years at North Hill we have moved. Thanks to our continued success we outgrew our offices on North Hill, and have moved to much larger premises in Stable Road, Colchester. All our contact details remain the same, apart from our address.

The move to Stable 6, a Grade II listed building, originally part of the Royal Artillery Barracks, is very significant in terms of our commitment to our clients. Our new premises will allow us to grow and develop our services for individuals and business. When you visit us, we hope you will agree that the recently completed conversion is a much nicer place for you to meet us. And being close to the town centre, local bus services and with on-site parking, we believe that in Stable 6 we have created the ideal environment in which to enhance the client experience. We look forward to welcoming you to our new office.

Our Brand

The move to our new office has provided us with the perfect opportunity to refresh and renew our branding. This page is an introduction to the new logo and colour scheme for Thompson Smith and Puxon and we very much hope that you like it.

130 Years on the hill…

The firm can trace its roots back to 1879 (a history that resonates wonderfully with that of our new office) when Edward Thompson Smith first started practising as a solicitor in Colchester, initially on his own.

He was joined by his son, Osmond Thompson Smith, in 1907, and at this point the firm became known as Thompson Smith & Son. Francois Edward Mortimer Puxon (also known as Peter) first started practising in Colchester on his own in 1934. He joined Thompson Smith & Son in 1937, which from then on became known as Thompson Smith & Puxon.
